The Blue Rose

Finished a painting this week it was nice to take time away from tattooing
to paint now back to getting my drawings done for clients

so i missed a few photos along the way

but here we go this is something i ve wanted to do for awhile this is the way I paint

first off I do a small rough sketch

then blow it up to the size I want and refine it and do a bigger sketch

after that I take it to the light table and tansfer it to the watercolor paper

once transferred as on the left I take the image and tape it down to a peice of cardboard

and start painting I start with the light colors first yellows and browns

then move on to the reds and blacks with this painting I wasnt sure how I wanted the moon so I left it till the end

I missed photos of painting the backgroung and the anchor

My photo of the finished piece is a bit blurry
but I pretty happy with the way this came out

the painting is 30.5 inches by 12 inches

one page takes a whole page in a flash rack

Higher and higher, through the cosmos we had tripped

Seeing stars turned inside out, we thought our minds had flipped

Colors swirling, sounds are drifting, thinking we were dead

The wizard turned and spoke to us and, this is what he said

Through the virgin universe, upon his back we played

Creating and destroying with the music we made

Undulate the cosmic rhythm, galaxies were born

Clouds of blue, fluorescent dunes, spreading out before

I am still not good with this new camera but i have to show this off

this is another of the bigger watercolor panings I ve been working on this one went pretty fast

I stayed up all night painting this , I was just cleaning up when my wife woke up for work at 6:30in the morrning , she told me i have the crazy look in my eyes.

I get this look when I am up way too late working on art, I also go I bit crazy its like getting realy high with out useing any drugs

I did this last year around new years, and is the first in the stoner metal influanced paintings named after a Electric Wizard record

It is also the painting that encouraged me to start painting bigger paintings.

the painting not huge or anything its just bigger then most of the paining i tend to do.

I have a new large painting for this year that I will be documenting from start to finish

this is another one that i drew up last year and just got a round to painting, had fun with it used a differnt red then I normaly use on the owl and i like it only thing I dont like are the claws hes missing a few talons and I didnt notice till it was too late to add them oh well next time
